Foss, San Filippo & Milne Identifies Volunteer-based Clinic For Bequest

The Parker Family Health Center is the beneficiary of a trust administered by Foss, San Filippo & Milne, the Red Bank law firm.

The trust was established to provide for the health care of the grantor’s heirs. After the death of the last heir, attorneys from Foss, San Filippo & Milne argued successfully that the spirit of the trust be honored by directing remaining funds to the Parker Family Heath Center, which provides health care to those in need in Monmouth County.

“We are so grateful to our friends at Foss, San Filippo & Milne,” said Dr. Eugene Cheslock, Parker Family Health Center President. “The firm has been a touchstone for Parker since our earliest days, shepherding us through planning, zoning and a host of other matters – all pro bono.”

Funds will help Parker continue to care for community members who have nowhere else to turn for medical care, according to Cheslock. “In this economy, we are seeing more and more patients, and many are very sick, with diabetes and other serious conditions,” he continued. “Our dedicated volunteers and staff are keeping these patients healthy and out of the hospital.”

Founded in 2000, the Parker Family Health Center provides comprehensive health care free of charge to low-income, uninsured Monmouth County residents. The clinic logs 10,000 patient visits annually, with over 100,000 total patient visits since its founding. Thirty-four percent of patients are from Red Bank, with the rest coming from all parts of Monmouth County. Health care is provided by a network of 300 volunteers who donate 10,000 hours of service annually at Parker. The Health Center is open six days a week and located on Shrewsbury Avenue in Red Bank.
