Each year, the Newcomers’ Club of Rumson, Fair Haven, Shrewsbury and Little Silver chooses a local charity to raise money for by hosting several fundraising events throughout the year. Parker Family Health Center was the grateful recipient of this past year’s efforts.
The Newcomers’ Club hosted three events throughout the past year: Touch A Truck, Harvest Wine Tasting, and Lucky Name Casino Night. Touch A Truck, a family fun day in which children could touch, climb on and even honk the horns of their favorite neighborhood trucks, was held last September at the Fair Haven Fire House. Last November’s Harvest Wine Tasting, also held in Fair Haven, featured an evening of wine sampling in anticipation of the holiday party season. This spring the club hosted Lucky Name Casino Night at The Raven and the Peach, Fair Haven. The Casino Night included various games of chance and over 100 prize baskets.
The Newcomers’ Club raised over $20,000 for the Center. Per Pam Lacey, the Newcomers’ Event Chair, “More than 200 local families and businesses donated goods, services, or their time to help make our events a success.” Pictured above, Dr. Gene Cheslock, President of Parker Family Health Center, accepts a check from the Newcomers’ Club outgoing President Maggie La Rocca and Event Chair Pam Lacey.
