GarrutoA native of Elizabeth, NJ, Dr. Garruto completed his pre-med studies at Notre Dame and was commissioned as a naval Ensign in 1954.  From 1954-56, he served on Navy Transports carrying troops and supplies worldwide, including Korea.  He was discharged as a LTJG.  Dr. Garruto then attended the Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola, Chicago, receiving his MD in 1960, followed by an internship at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, NJ.  A charter member of the American Board of Family Practice, Dr. Garruto retired in 2003, after 42 years of practice in the Holmdel/Hazlet area.  He now resides in Sarasota, FL and Red Bank, NJ.  While in Florida, Dr. Garruto volunteers at Senior Friendship Centers.  Dr. Garruto and his wife, Peggy, have 4 children and 7 grandchildren.
